.
.
.

Upon arriving, I was served with a cup of hot floral tea which was soothing due to the epic hazy weather. The environment is clean and nice, just like a typical spa facility.

The classic manicure experience was really enjoyable, the design is totally my style; super pretty blush pink with glitter and blings, not too loud but very classy. :)

As for the the massage and facial session, the Welcome Massage will allow you to relax and rest; that way your skin will be at its best condition to absorb all the treatments. My skin is typically dry and have several clogged pores on my forehead (between my eyes) and around my chin. The therapist is very knowledgeable, she shared that apparently that is due to bad gastric/digestion system and went on to give me advice on how to improve my epic dark circles.

After the extractions of whiteheads & blackheads, I was given a cool gel to help lock the moisture, reduce redness & swelling while tightening the pores. The Jade therapy is adopting traditional Chinese massaging techniques which will improve blood circulation around the eye, contouring the face relieve muscle tension and enhance your skin's conditions. And that is followed by Lymphatic face massage which helps your skin to detox.

After all the massages, you will be able to feel the difference when you touch your face and especially when you smile. My face feels bouncy and soft, and very comfortable. The therapist went on to give me a layer of whitening mask for my uneven skin tone, and a layer of herbal mask. The herbal mask is 100% herbs mainly ginseng and other herbs that helps with whitening and boosting the immunity of your skin, nourishing the skin with all the right ingredients.

This is probably one of the best ways to spend your off day! For those who are interested, you can contact Jaezy at 90114677 or YS Beauty Wellness at 62599005 to enquire and make an appointment.

Our story: Fii & Maddy

Once upon a time, in a far away land........ Nah, we will skip all of that and jump straight to the point!

.
.
.

Fii & I met when we were working in Camera Rental Centre in 2010. He was mad about photography so he started working there soon after he graduated from NUS. As for me, I started out not knowing anything about photography; all I wanted as a stable office job (call centre) after I left the Hospitality and F&B industry.

We both were seeing someone else at that time so we spent 2 years as purely colleagues and nothing else. However after a breakup, the passing of my dearest grandmother and going through a difficult phase in my career, I've found our relationship starting to grow into something more.

It was very clear that we are like the North and South Pole, very different but attracted to each other. Fii is Malay Muslim while I'm totally Chinese (in love with the whole history of China etc), not trying to be racist but it was obvious that it won't be easy if we ever decide to be more than friends.

Before we decided to be officially together, we spent A LOT of time talking about the future, our individual visions and dreams. It was very "unromantic" and "theoretical" because we choose to be mature adults with the idea of marriage; instead of treating it like another BGR that might lead to nowhere.

Guess the biggest change was due to the difference in race and religion (sound like the Singapore pledge) hahahah.. I had to learn about his faith - Islam, about what it means to be a muslim through classes that are held in Darul Arqam (centre for muslim converts).. Rushing for weekly classes after work and fasting during Ramadan wasn't easy for the first time, plus the fact that I have frequent gastric problems.

However I'm glad that Fii was always there for me, attending the classes, buying my favourite food to break fast etc. I've always been very analytical so at times we find ourselves in major debates and argument about doctrines and "laws". But we are thankful that we could always handle it well and especially when it comes to breaking the news to my parents about Fii being muslim.

It took us several months and continuous "hard work" to convince both parents to accept our relationship and decision. So as we start to plan our wedding, the pressure will intensify as we balance the requests of our parents and our own desires.

Somehow I am very thankful that we are so different, yet so similar (ironic yes) but very true. It allow us to see each other's blind spots and also build on our strengths. Fii is always very technical, into specifications, math and science; while I'm the business arts kid who is all about analysis and interrelation communication. Our relationship is just like a complete jigsaw puzzle, only whole when placed together.

Journey from "Yes" to "I Do"...

It was all fuzzy, romantic and ooooo bling bling; but what now after you said "Yes!" to the man (or woman) of your dreams?

As a little girl, I've always dreamt of my wedding; that magical fairytale day when my prince charming will come and escort me to a beautiful castle where we lived happily ever after. I even remember my master plan had details like the dress I would wear, the type of hotel it would be in...

But no one told Cinderella, Snow White and the other princesses that they have to beautifully plan and organise a crazy party for hundreds and thousands of guests, with requests from parents and in-laws..

I will be sharing more details about my wedding planning process with brides (and grooms) who wish to learn more in the various series! :)

----------

1. Inform your family soon after your engagement!

If your fiancé have asked your parents for your hand in marriage before he popped the question, that would be AMAZING! Most Asian dads would want their future son-in-law to be a man and ask officially. And that being said, your future in-laws should be aware of this as well.. You would definitely want your parents blessing for your marriage. :)

If your parents have not met each other prior to this, it would be good to arrange for a simple meeting to break the ice. I know that many couples only arrange for their parents to meet during the food tasting (1-2 months before the AD - Actual Day) or worst on the AD itself. But it would be nice to ease the transition, and who knows, I've heard of stories when both parents become BFF! :)

It could sound stressful (trust me on this, i would share my story another time) but it's worth it!

2. Budget & Finances

Being a young "average" couple, we try to set aside a sum of money monthly for our wedding (and home) since we decided on forever. I don't think anyone wants to start a new chapter of their lives with a huge debt (or bank loan) because they overspent on that one day.

Heard the saying "I want my marriage to be more beautiful than my wedding"? That's exactly the point! I'm saying this as the girl who started planning her wedding since 3 years old... You want that bespoke gown, he needs that tailored suit, perhaps a 6* ballroom looks amazing, and maybe we should throw in that handmade paper rose backdrop that is inspired by Chanel's fashion show.

Many couples spent the rest of their marriage in argument because of financial situation, and several even ended it in a divorce. When we start this fairytale journey, no one intends to end it with a tragedy right? So learn to be good steward of your finances.

Know your budget and spend them wisely!

Nowadays it's common to see couples choosing smaller and more intimate celebrations, which could help save some money. I will further expand on this topic in the next few weeks, now is just a teaser! :P

3. Wedding date

Some like to set their wedding date on a significant day, or based on some "nice sounding" dates like 1.3.14 (一生一世 which means for a lifetime or eternity) while others would get auspicious dates checked by Masters.

Ask your parents if they have any preference or traditions to follow when it comes to a wedding, especially if you have family elders who are still around.

4. Solemnisation & Banquet Venue

Venue is important when it comes to wedding because of the capacity, F&B and most importantly the PRICE! Base on your budget and estimated number of guests, you can start to look for hotels, restaurants, cafe, function rooms or literally any empty/available space to host your wedding.

Some couples would look for pillar-less ballroom, while others can choose a simple intimate dinner at a classy bistro. If you are hosting it in a hotel, you could typically request to use a room/hall for your solemnisation (and even tea ceremony). You could always watch out for such package deals during wedding road shows.

If you are a savvy bride (or groom), you can always follow Style Weddings, Her World Bride, The Wedding Scoop, singaporebrides.com etc for upcoming road shows, promotions and compare the various venues. They are typically located at Marina Square, Suntec City or Vivo City; at times hotels could also plan their own Open House for interested couples.

Hotel Open House would also include vendors like bridal studios, photographers, florists, and even wedding stationary designers. After signing a package with them, you could potential get the other services at a discounted rate too.

5. Wedding Theme

You can also start to think of ideas for the wedding theme; there are tonnes of them all over the net and especially on Pinterest. Platforms like Pinterest allows couple to have a visual understanding of the colours and decor for their wedding

Here's some of my mood board which I've pinned for my wedding! :)

After reading all these and you are feeling pretty overwhelmed, you could look at engaging a professional wedding planner to co-ordinate everything for you. As for me, I would attempt to do this on my own; firstly to save cost, secondly is because I have trust issues.. Hahaha

Fly me to Maldives

05.05.2014

It's pretty amazing to think that Boo & I have been dating for 2 years and so we decided to plan an epic holiday to celebrate our love. And our destination is........ *drumroll*

MALDIVES~~

After arriving at Male International Airport, we took a ferry to Male City because we wanted to explore the city rather than rushing to the resort.

The Grand Friday Mosque is located inside the Islamic Centre (Masjid-al-Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al Auzam).

Memorial for the soldiers and citizens who died on the 3 November 1988 terrorist attack.

Old Friday Mosque (Hukuru Miskiiy) was built from coral stones in 1656.

Our luxurious "James Bond" speedboat :P

After about 15-20 minutes, we arrived at our resort! It looks like paradise....:)

We booked the Beach Villa because we feel that spending SGD$700-$1000/night on a Water Villa is just too extravagant. But hey, our Beach Villa looks awesome! It even have a porch, outdoor rain shower and beach front.

--------------------

Day Two started a little too gloomy, was kinda disappointed because I actually woke up at 5:30am to catch the sunrise. Guess I have another excuse to sleep in then...

Thankfully the sky cleared up after breakfast and we decided to explore part of the island before our Dolphin Discovery Tour.

We also saw a couple getting married on the beach, looks super romantic and exotic

Even though we didn't manage to catch a glimpse of the Dolphins due to the changing weather, we
were actually pleased to spot a whole school of tuna, flying fish (seriously "flying") and spent a nice hour riding the waves.

--------------------

Because the landscape of Maldives is so beautiful, we decided to make use of the location for our own DIY Photoshoot on Day Three.

And of course the local Maldivian bird which Boo is mad about...

After the photoshoot, we spent the rest of the afternoon at the SPA for a full body massage. The Velassaru Spa Infinity Pool is listed as one of the top 10 pools in the world.

--------------------

We spent the earlier part of Day 4 exploring the rest of the island before our Bioquest Snorkelling
session.

After our epic snorkelling session, we realise that our GoPro was dead due to a leak. Oh well... Oh the brighter side, I was totally looking forward to dinner because snorkelling kinda made me feel sick.

Boo planned a special, romantic and super exclusive dinner on the beach; to be honest I was blown away by the ambience and amazing food.

And just before the night ended, Boo popped the question and of course my answer was "YES". Poor Boo was so nervous that he kneeled down on both knees in our villa :P

Even though it wasn't a big scale flashmob proposal, I knew that it was simple, intimate and straight from the heart. I knew a few weeks before the trip that I can't live with him and for sure I would want to spend the rest of my life with him.

I'm truly thankful and wouldn't trade this trip for anything. Despite the many ups and downs in our relationship, I'm so proud that we stood by each other. When times were tough, we chose to stick even closer for strength and comfort.

For our family and friends who sent their best wishes, we are truly blessed beyond words. We appreciate each and every one of you! <3
